Yes, visits are billed to the Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan (AHCIP) for eligible patients. Bring your Alberta Health Care number to your first visit. Some services outside the scope of AHCIP (uninsured services) may have a fee, and we'll be transparent about that up front.

We may still be able to see you as an uninsured patient. Fees will be quoted before your visit so there are no surprises.

No. If you are living with symptoms of a chronic condition and want a physician assessment, you can still book. Your visit may include working toward a clearer diagnosis or coordinating the appropriate workup.

Yes, HealMaze is designed to work alongside your existing family physician and specialists, not replace them. If you don't have a family doctor, we can help you access one.

Yes, within the scope of family medicine. This includes screening, brief supportive counselling around chronic illness, medication management, and referrals to psychiatry or psychology when appropriate. HealMaze is not a substitute for long-term psychotherapy or psychiatric care that requires a specialist.

HealMaze physicians can prescribe medications within the scope of family medicine, including many medications for chronic conditions and for mental-health support such as anxiety and depression. Controlled substances and certain medications may require an in-person visit or specialist involvement. We'll be clear if that's the case.

Visits are longer than a standard walk-in appointment. First visits are structured to give enough time for a proper history, review of your priorities, and a written plan.

For much of chronic-illness care (assessment, medication review, mental-health support, care planning) virtual care works well. For things that need a hands-on exam, imaging, or a procedure, an in-person visit is required. Your physician will tell you when that's the case and help coordinate it.
